A Cartoon History of the Theatre

Harry Venning draws upon (no pun intended) his thirty-five years as cartoonist, illustrator, contributor and reviewer of The Stage newspaper, the oldest performance arts-based publication in the world. Using a combination of his own illustrations and contemporary ones, Harry explores such subjects as rivalries, superstitions, riots, failures and triumphs, from Ancient Greek theatre to the modern day.
